Bhardwaj said, “Today a surprise inspection of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital has been done to check whether our hospitals have the facility to treat patients suffering from heat or not. I saw that necessary medicines are available there, and ice packs are also there. We will also inspect other hospitals, and wherever there are deficiencies, we will remove them.”

The Delhi minister said that he has also written a letter to the Delhi Police commissioner asking him to instruct the night patrolling team that if anyone is seen sick, he should be taken to the hospital.

He said, “We have also written a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner to tell his night patrolling team that if they see anyone ill, they should leave him at the hospital or inform us, we will send our ambulance and get him admitted to the hospital. CAT service has also been asked to deploy five ambulances in all the districts of Delhi. If there is any sick person in or around the night shelter, the ambulance should immediately take him to the hospital.”

He further alleged that the Delhi Health Secretary went on a month’s leave without informing him.

“Delhi health secretary is not available, he has gone on a month’s leave without asking me. Yesterday I called MS and MD and had a meeting, they are alert and doing good preparations from their side. If there is any shortcoming, I am doing surprise inspections for that,” Bhardwaj said.

Delhi’s Health Minister said, “Every week, fire breaks out in some hospital or nursing home in Delhi. Now the cases of heat stroke are increasing, but the head of the Health Department, the Health Secretary, is not available. Two days ago, I came to know that he has gone on leave till July 13. I have written a letter to the Home Ministry of the Central Government regarding how the Health Department will work in such a critical time and have demanded strict action.”
