  • Tequila Blanco. I live by one rule: always good tequila. But thankfully, you don’t have to spend money on the most expensive bottle to make this spicy margarita recipe. Here, we used lalo tequila blancobut we also love flecha azul And Casamigos,
  • Lemon juice. Choose only freshly squeezed ones. Yes, using a bottle cuts corners, but it will also leave you with a slightly stale tasting margarita. not ideal.
  • Orange juice. Like lemon juice, we’re stuck with fresh things. The resulting flavor is bright, tangy, and with a touch of acidic sweetness to balance the heat.
  • Honey or agave. Depending on how spicy you like your margaritas, you can add more or less of your sweetener. This will balance out the slight burn from the tequila, keeping your drink tasting smooth and delicious.
  • Tajin. The main ingredient in this spicy margarita recipe. Tajín is a Mexican spice mix consisting of chili powder, salt, and dehydrated lime. The flavor is complex, with a slight sourness, slight saltiness and definitely heat. It drives home the spice factor without overpowering the drink.

  1. Combine tequila, lime juice, orange juice and sweetener of choice in a cocktail shaker. Fill cocktail shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
  2. For the Tajín rim: Place the Tajín on a small plate. Run a wedge of lime around the edge of your glass and dip the rim in Tajín to coat.
