Anne Hathaway has some very personal and very impressive news to share.
In a recent interview with The New York Times while promoting her upcoming film, The Idea of You, Hathaway said the following:
“There are many other things that I recognize as milestones.
“I don’t usually talk about it, but I’ve been sober for over five years. This feels like a milestone to me. 40 feels like a gift.
Hathaway revealed this a few weeks ago she also had an abortion Back in 2015.
In this case, the star has cited his excessive dependence on alcohol several times in the past.
For example, speaking to Vanity Fair in March, Hathaway said she knew “inside out” [drinking] Wasn’t for me,” adding at the time:
“And it felt very hard to say, ‘But no one?’ But no one. If you’re allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don’t argue with it.
“So I stopped arguing with it.”
In The Idea of You – which will be released on Amazon Prime Video on May 2 – Hathaway plays a woman named Solenn.
She’s a 40-year-old single mother and she begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, lead singer of the most popular boy band on the planet, August Moon.
The Oscar winner told Vanity Fair she’s proud of her decision to stay sober.
Hathaway added, “My personal experience with it is that everything is better.” “To me, it was fuel to waste. And I don’t like wallowing.”
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019, Hathaway told the public for the first time that she had given up alcohol.
“I quit drinking 18 years ago in October,” Hathaway — who shares children Jonathan, 8, and Jack, 4, with her husband Adam Shulman — told the host at the time.
“I will stop drinking alcohol as long as my sons stay in my house.
“I don’t love my way at all [drink] And he’s getting to that age where he needs me all the time in the morning.
Through the same interview, Hathaway recalled the day she was dropping her son off at school.
While she was not driving, Hathaway said, “I was drunk and that was enough for me. I didn’t like that.”

“It’s a path that everyone has to walk for themselves,” he told Vanity Fair at the end.
“The thing I’m confident about is that everyone else will have one or two drinks, and by the time everyone else has had two drinks, you’ll feel like you’ve had two drinks – but without the hangover.”
