Potts, 71, who appeared in 134 of the series’ total 136 episodes, told Diversity Given the show’s success, she was “not completely ready” for the show to end.
“I was shocked. I mean, the No. 1 show on network TV, the No. 1 show on Netflix,” she said. “I think we’re doing everything people see on TikTok except some pasta recipes “It seemed like a stupid business move.”
Potts said she wasn’t the only one who didn’t see the end coming.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know. If a show is starting to drag or lag or lack stories or something, you see it coming. “This left us completely ambushed,” he claimed.

Following CBS’s announcement in November 2023 that the series would not be renewed, executive producer steve holland, steven molaro And chuck lorre released a joint statement saying, “Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper and expand the story to include the entire Cooper family has been an amazing experience. On behalf of the entire family, we are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers over the past six seasons young sheldon Family, we are excited to share this final season with you.”
With the series soon in the rearview mirror, Potts looks back at the show that has played a significant role in his career.
“I mean, it’s been half of Ian’s life, and it’s been a 10th of mine, but at 70, it feels significant,” she said. “And, you know, it’s our little village, and we’ve all taken care of each other and raised each other. There will be a sad hole in my life. There is no question in this. it will be easier. There is sorrow, there is loss.”
Armitage, 15, echoed that sentiment, saying, “It’s really hard in a weird way, which I can only really see if I step back and try and take a global perspective, which is hard. I mean, I don’t get to meet Annie Potts every day. This is a real loss for me. more than anyone.”
