Assistant Secretary O’Brien’s Travel to Georgia and Montenegro – United States Department of State

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O’Brien will travel to Tbilisi, Georgia, and Podgorica and Kotor, Montenegro, May 14-17. In Georgia, he will meet with representatives of government, civil society, and the private sector to express the United States’ enduring commitment to the Georgian people and Georgia’s desire for a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Euro-Atlantic future.

In Montenegro, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will participate in the Western Balkans Development Plan Regional Leaders Summit in Kotor with EU partners and senior government officials from across the region. Their participation at the Summit will focus on the opportunities for regional economic integration and development proposed by the EU’s Western Balkans Development Plan and will reinforce the United States’ strong support for the Western Balkans’ pathway to EU membership. Assistant Secretary O’Brien will also meet with senior Montenegrin government officials to discuss our bilateral cooperation in support of Montenegro’s full Euro-Atlantic integration.
