The couple wrote in a joint message, “Our sweet baby decided to come early!!” Instagram posted on Sunday, May 26. “He’s doing great and we’re finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”
Ayesha, 35, and Stephen, 36, said their baby was born on May 11.
The couple shared a black and white photo of the newborn, who has been named Caius Chai.
The cookbook author announced in March that she and the NBA player were hoping for.in a cover story with him Sweet July In the magazine, Ayesha explained why the couple decided to expand their family.
“I would load the car and think, ‘Oh, I forgot something,'” she said. “But nobody had forgotten. It started to spin my mind a little bit. Maybe somebody had gotten lost. So we started this trip, knowing it would complete our family.”
Stephen and Ayesha married in July 2011 and welcomed daughter Riley in July 2012, daughter Ryan in July 2015, and son Canon in July 2018.
Although Ayesha had experienced pregnancy three times before, her fourth pregnancy was different from all the others.

Play.“I’m in my 30s, so there are all these papers referring to this experience as ‘elderly pregnancy,’ and all the anxiety that comes with that,” she said. “I think there needs to be a little more nuance in terms of conversations about women, their age, and having children. A lot of women in their 30s and 40s are going through this for the first time, and when they’re told they’re ‘old,’ they feel overwhelmed and awkward.”
As far as how her kids view pregnancy, Ayesha explained that they’re grown up enough to be more aware of the process. “They’re at very different ages and stages in life,” she shared. “Their perspectives are very different and that’s the most exciting thing.”
After Ayesha confirmed her arrival, Stephen reposted a photo of her baby bump Instagramwriting, “Volume 4 ❤️👀😍.”
In May 2021, Ayesha reflected on starting her family in her early 20s, and explained that marrying Stephen “always felt right” at the time but it forced her to “make a lot of decisions” about her life.
“I started to realize that I was becoming a woman at such a young age, when other people would probably still be in college or figuring out what they wanted to be,” she said. “Skimmed off the couch” podcast. “I was going to get married and I was going to have kids, and it got to a point when I thought, I’ve spent my whole life from being a little girl until now auditioning to play these other people and be like these other people, I don’t even know what I like or who I am because I’ve spent my whole life trying to figure out how to be like someone else.”
Ayesha insisted she “loved being a mum” but felt she could manage a career alongside being a parent, which she later achieved with the success of her culinary ventures.
