A high-ranking UK BBC presenter has caused a stir by suggesting President Biden should be Donald Trump He was murdered.
David AaronovitchThe presenter of Radio 4’s “Briefing Room” show, caused a stir with a now-deleted post that read, “If I were Biden, I would quickly have Trump assassinated, on the grounds that he is a threat to the security of the United States.”
He used the hashtag #SCOTUS … linking his comments to a response to the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision.
The 6-3 decision granted Trump immunity for any “official act” he took during his presidency. However, the decision did not explicitly define what qualifies as an “official act” … but it broadly considered everything a president does in the course of his office.
Aaronovitch’s comments were met with strong criticism … with critics saying they violated employee fairness rules in the workplace.
Now a far-right group is suggesting that my tweet about the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity is inciting violence, when it was clearly satire. So I’m deleting it. If nothing else, it’s given me a map of some of the dumbest people on this site.

@daaronovitch
He wrote a follow-up post, clearly disappointed by the response his initial comment received… explaining that he deleted it because people interpreted it as inciting violence rather than purely satire.
GB News Contributor Alex Armstrong accused him of “backing off” on the advice of his “handler.” But, Aaronovitch remained firm and defiant about his remarks, firing back, “Oh Alex, tell me about my ‘handler.'”
The BBC has not yet commented on Aaronovitch’s post.
