Ben Potter, Popular YouTube Star, Dead at 40

Today a very sad news came from the social media world:

Ben Potter, a popular YouTube personality known on the platform as the Comixtorian, died on June 8 as the result of an “unfortunate accident,” according to Potter’s wife, Nathalie.

He was 40 years old.

Potter had over one million subscribers on YouTube; he also created audio dramas of comic books on his comixtorian account, and frequently talked about the Marvel and DC universes.

“To many of you, he was the Comicstorian, giving voice to stories across many different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the nicest and most supportive people anyone could hope for,” Nathalie tweeted late Monday.

“As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend or even a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen to his loved ones and make time for them. He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay.

“He was our support and was there for his loved ones whenever they needed him.”

No details are available at this time regarding Potter’s death.

Potter uploaded nearly 4,000 YouTube videos in total, and shared her final post — titled Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel — just a day before her death.

Nathalie said her husband “was my world”, adding:

“I need to spend time with friends and family. There are many things I need to understand, but first, I need to grieve. I ask that you respect my privacy and everyone else’s. My priority right now is to protect everything he has built and I have no plans other than that.”

“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t have wanted it to end this way.”

Potter began his YouTube career over a decade ago, earning a number of famous fans in the process.

For example, O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of Ice Cube and Kimberly Woodruff, was among those who paid tribute to Potter after her passing.

“Prayers for his loved ones. Long live Ben Potter,” Jackson Jr. wrote online. “You all be well. Take care of your loved ones. Hope to see you all soon.”

In the meantime, Nathalie assured followers that her husband’s channel will remain active.

“The team and I want to keep this going. Honoring great people by telling their great stories, while also keeping the memory of our own superheroes alive,” she concluded. “We supported each other in everything we wanted to do and I’m not going to stop now.”

Rest in peace Ben Potter.
