Bengal education minister demands central probe into NEET-UG ‘irregularities’ – ET HealthWorld

Kolkata: West education minister of bengal Bratya Basu demanded on Saturday Test Allegedly Irregularities In NEET-UG Basu said the central government never wastes time in expediting the investigation into alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment exams in West Bengal.

He said, “But it is silent on the investigation into the irregularities in NEET-UG, which has affected the future careers of lakhs of aspiring doctors across the country. I fail to understand why no ED or CBI investigation has been initiated so far into NEET-UG irregularities. Is this not a failure of the Centre?”

State Education The minister stressed that there is no such case when the medical entrance examination is under the state jurisdiction under the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board.

Taking a dig at the media, he said, “We have seen several talk shows and panel discussions on the alleged corruption in the recruitment of teachers (in the state).

He said, “Why the silence now? Is the future of lakhs of MBBS candidates not important for the country and the state?”

He said there have been multiple investigations regarding teaching job recruitment, with multiple arrests.

“We want punishment for the guilty and justice for thousands of teachers. But the issue of irregularities in the All India Medical Entrance Examination should not be ignored or suppressed. The future of lakhs of candidates is at stake in it. Our future doctors,” he said on the occasion of an education fair organised by some private colleges.

NEET Conducting Agency NTA Earlier, a statement had said that many candidates were given grace marks due to timing issues, which resulted in their marks becoming abnormally high.

The agency rejected all allegations of malpractice and said the increased number of examinees was the reason for the high cut-off marks.

Union Education Minister dharmendra pradhan Earlier, he had dismissed allegations of paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, saying there was no evidence of it.

Earlier in the day, Basu attended the inauguration of Education Interface 2024 organised by a forum of private higher educational institutions at the government Netaji Indoor Stadium.
