Billie Eilish ‘Lost All of My Friends’ When She Got Famous

The 22-year-old “Lunch” singer says she lost “all of her friends” after becoming famous at 14.

“Well, when I got famous I lost all my friends,” Eilish said on the Monday, June 10, episode The BBC’s “Miss Me?” podcast Hosted by singer Lily Allen and British TV personality Miquita Oliver“I suddenly became famous and I couldn’t connect with anybody. It was hard. It was really hard.”

“And then it was my 20th birthday and I remember looking around the room and realizing the only people there were people I had hired were 15 years or so older than me,” the singer recalled.

Eilish revealed that she was deeply hurt when one of her employees quit and stopped talking to her. “That was the worst thing that ever happened to me. And it made me realize, ‘Oh wait, this is a job.’ If they quit me, they would never see me again,” she added.

As a result of her past friendship troubles, the “What Was I Made For?” singer now has difficulty making friends with the people she works with.

“I’m very terrified of loss and I have a lot of abandonment issues,” she explained.

The good news, however, is that the singer said she has made a concerted effort to reach out to old friends and make new ones.

“Exactly a year ago, I reconnected with my old friends and now, I have so many friends,” she said. “Now I have a crew. I can literally cry about it. That’s the greatest thing for me.”

The singer told that recently she had gone to the Coachella party with her friends and she became emotional there.

“I thought, ‘Guys, I have friends and I love you guys so much, and it’s been so long since I had friends.’ I cried … and it really did because now I have friendships again,” he said. Oscar winner,
