A transatlantic passenger is feeling lucky to be alive after a severe storm hurled him rapidly from the cabin of a Boeing jet … and landed on the plane’s roof.
Watch the clip – you can see a man’s legs sticking out from the top of the overhead bin on Air Europa flight UX045 from Madrid to Montevideo, Uruguay on Monday. The fact that his legs were actually moving was a relief to his fellow passengers … who eventually removed him, and put him back in his seat.
Other passengers were also thrown from their seats as the plane was hit by a storm over the Atlantic Ocean – and 30 of the 325 passengers on board were injured in the accident.
Other photos and footage from the plane showed a scene of chaos – oxygen masks hung loose and ceiling panels were in disarray.
Travelers described the incident at local Uruguayan shops as being like a horror movie and a near-death experience.
Air Europa says the plane was diverted to Brazil’s Rio Grande do Norte state, and the injured – who suffer varying degrees of injury – were being treated at the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel hospital in Natal.
