Brian Wilson today is not the same man that fans will see succeeding in the future. the beach Boys The documentary will air on Disney+.

The film follows the famous band from their early years to becoming superstars, as well as showing the original members as they are today. For Brian, this sadly means having a father and loved one who is struggling with dementia.

How is he now? He’s better than you’d think, given the circumstances.

Brian Wilson today and his health battles

Brian Wilson unfortunately suffers from a major neurocognitive disorder, and was placed under conservatorship in early May 2024

A Los Angeles judge ruled that his guardians would be two of his longtime associates: his manager LeeAnne Hard and his publicist Gene Sievers.

Given his condition, which has been likened to dementia, the judge also ruled that Brian’s seven children would be consulted by the conservator regarding major health care decisions and would be kept informed of their father’s condition.

Yet despite his declining health, Bryan was present to celebrate his release. the beach BoysA new Disney+ documentary that tells the story of the band’s rise to superstardom.

Brian Wilson’s rare red carpet appearance

At Hollywood’s Chinese Theatre, original Beach Boys member Brian Wilson received a standing ovation on Tuesday, May 21. He arrived in a wheelchair and was soon joined by other members of the legendary band.

Brian’s daughters, Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson, attended the world premiere with their father and spoke candidly about his health and conservatorship.

“He’s doing great! He’s doing great. Every day he’s in physiotherapy. I’m cooking for him, he’s spending a lot of time with his kids and his family now,” Carney told ET.,

“I think he’s doing really well with what he’s going through right now,” Wendy agreed, not surprised at his courage.

“But, you know, he’s a survivor. He’s my dad. He’s a very tough, very strong guy,” Wendy said.

Guardianship

In this case, a Free Britney-level campaign doesn’t seem necessary.

Bryan’s late wife Melinda Ledbetter was the Beach Boys hitmaker’s caretaker for many years. However, after her passing in January, Bryan’s business manager and publicist were petitioned to be appointed co-conservator.

According to the filing, ET, His psychiatrist believes that Brian lacks the capacity to give informed consent to medical treatment.

Carney and Wendy are two of Bryan’s children from his first marriage to Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford, which ended in 1981. Bryan later married Melinda Ledbetter in 1995 and they adopted Daria, Dakota, Delaney, Dash, and Dylan. They were together for almost 30 years before his passing.
