Brother Marquis, 2 Live Crew Member, Dead at 58

Hip-hop artist Brother Marquis diedHe was 58 years old.

The artist, whose real name was Mark Ross, was best known for his work as one of the members of the iconic Miami rap group 2 Live Crew.

On Monday, 2 Live Crew’s official Instagram account shared the news of his passing in a tribute post. 2 Live Crew’s longtime manager, DJ Deebo, also confirmed the news. People,

“Mark Ross aka Brother Marquis of 2 Live Crew has passed away,” the group wrote alongside a photo of Ross.

Sources familiar with the situation said TMZ, He said that there is no suspicion of foul play and his death appears to be natural.

Ross was born in Rochester, New York, in April 1966, before moving to Los Angeles as a child. He later moved to Florida, where he joined 2 Live Crew in 1986.

Despite not being a founding member of the group, he worked with Luke Skyywalker, Dr. Mister Mix and Fresh Kid Ice and made his first appearance on their album 2 Live Crew is who we areReleased in ’86.

He remained with the group until its disbandment in the mid-1990s. However, they reunited in the 2000s and continued to perform until Fresh Kid Ice’s death in 2007.
