Commemorating the Days of Holocaust Remembrance – United States Department of State

During this week of national Holocaust remembrance, we remember the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators, as well as the millions of others who were persecuted, including Roma, LGBTQI+ persons, Slavs and persons with disabilities And was killed. Genocide survivors and their families are testaments to courage and resilience. They are a living rebuke to those who seek to destroy the future of the Jewish people and to those who seek to distort or deny the Holocaust. The Nazis and their collaborators engaged in murder on an unprecedented scale, systematically killing people simply because they were different. We can never forget the painful lessons of the Holocaust as we commit ourselves to ensuring that such horrors never again happen, are suffered, or witnessed by mankind.
