F1 24: Unfortunately, fans are right, the game is undriveable

The complaint is true. The F1 24 has terrible handling. To the point where it is impossible to drive. For me, it is not good at all.

But I’ve been playing this game on a gamepad for eight years now, currently using at least one Xbox I use the Elite Series 2 to tune my inputs for maximum stability and smoothness. And it’s true that, being away from the game for two or three months, I almost have to re-learn how the car behaves if I intend to drive on high difficulty or set respectable lap times in time trials.

But whenever the game gave me a problem that seemed insurmountable, I always reminded myself that millions of people play this series; that the gamepad is the preferred way to play; that I am no stranger to talent or knowledge here, and that I always found a way to keep playing. Maybe it was the car setup or calibration settings, but – proudly – I found a way to solve the unimaginable downforce demands of Baku or the hotel hairpin in Monaco.

This time it will take a little more work than it would otherwise An awesome title update Absolutely not from Codemasters. I’m not the only one complaining about this.

There are redditors I’m already looking forward to F1 23 – Which I agree with, it’s probably the best handling game in the series, but I still had to spend time getting the hang of it, and it was still a rough ride, especially in those all-out qualifying laps.

In F1 24, the first lap I drove in the time trial at Bahrain International Circuit saw me go off course in the first of 12 turns in the final corner of the out-lap. It’s a corner I could take in my sleep. It’s not a double apex, but it has an early exit where you can really lay on the gas and get a lot of steam to start your lap. After finally getting out of it and heading down the straight to start my time, I barely saved the car from going off the track and took Turn 1. The resulting chicane made me explode into the barriers like Nikita Mazepin.

In Austria, I finally said forget it and put the training wheels on – steering assist, which I never use, which also sets traction control and brake assist to full, which I never use together (usually one is on full while the other is off). Eventually this got me to the Red Bull Ring with no deleted time, just six seconds off my fastest time in the game last year.

I’m not the only one having this experience. YouTube channel F1 Games Experience reported in April that of the 52 closed beta testers it had contacted, all of them said it wasn’t possible to run the game.

Jarno Opmeer, an eSports driver and two-time Formula One eSports champion, Handling described as “dogs**t” about four days ago, in a clip that was widely circulated across several of the sport’s unofficial social media channels and forum threads. Opmeer is also someone who has driven Formula One cars with the Renault Sport Academy.

are elsewhere Complaints about vehicle and world physics Changing some courses Drifting competitions While more skilled drivers were allowed to drive at full speed up Silverstone’s famous Maggots and Becketts, or Australia’s Scary Turns 11 and 12 Literally flowing.

F1 24 needs to swallow a spoonful of hard medicine

While it’s not as sad as a death in the family, I’m no less saddened by the thought that F1 24 is so difficult to play on a GamePad that I can’t help but want to play it. which elsewhere seems like a hell of a game,

A preview event in April showed off a driver’s career (as opposed to a created team), which has received a lot of love and a lot of depth. Everyone sees F1 World as a microtransaction hub, but you can have hours of fun there without spending a penny.

I consider the many conversations I’ve had with Codemasters developers over the past few years about this beautiful video game to be the greatest accomplishments of my career, so I feel terrible about heaping this necessary criticism on them. But guys, I can’t play your game; I can’t see all your hard work.

I do not know that Newer and more sophisticated physics There are reasons to account for this, but I’ve never driven a car so jerky in a motorsports game. I don’t know if it’s an adjustment to the driving wheel peripherals that’s catching the gamepad drivers in the explosion; that seems unlikely, since the dedicated wheel drivers are also complaining About the handling.

In the meantime, I’ll keep trying. I’ll keep googling “F1 24 handling” and “F1 24 calibration gamepad” and “F1 24 brake throttle deadzone” in the hope that someone in a forum finds the key to freeing this game. Until then, I suggest Codemasters work on bringing F1 23’s handling back in whatever way they can. I know it’s not as simple as replacing a broken wing at Zandvoort.

But in the absence of any explanation or advice on how to make F1 24 playable, if Codemasters want us to see the rest of their hard work, this is the only option they have.
