Fantasy Baseball Risers: Alec Bohm, Daulton Varsho, Wilyer Abreu, Jordan Westburg

Some players have already been assigned to multiple locations, so a trade may be in order. Other players may be widely available, leaving a potential waiver wire claim in the cards. I’ll be highlighting some known and lesser-known players this week. So let’s look at some risers for fantasy baseball Week 5 (4/15-4/21).

Fantasy Baseball Risers and Fallers: Week 5

risers

Jordan Westberg (2B, 3B – BAL)

Jordan Westberg remained hot last week, hitting safely with a .478 batting average in all six games. While tossing in a stolen base, he collected five extra-base hits, including two home runs. Westberg looked good at it with a 16.7% barrel rate and a whopping 72.2% hard-hit rate. Westburg is hot right now.

Willier Abreu (OF – BOS)

Willier Abreu was named the regular centerfielder against right-handed pitchers last week, and has followed up with offensive production. He hit safely with a .333 batting average in the final four games of the week. Abreu had three doubles and a home run, but what’s more impressive is that he stole three times when he was on base. In addition to hitting .333, Abreu demonstrated great plate discipline and walked 20% of the time while striking out 16.7%. Hopefully, this big jump of the week will be the start of a big season for Abreu.

Dalton Varsho (OF – TOR)

After a slow start to the season, Daulton Varsho is swinging a very hot bat. Last week was a great example of this hot bat, as Varsho hit safely in four of six games with a .350 batting average. He collected seven hits, including three doubles and three home runs. Varsho also showed off his speed with two stolen bases. Versho’s power was earned as he had a 13.3% barrel rate and a 53.3% hard-hit rate. Varsho is very excited and may get the offensive prowess we expected last season.

Alec Boehm (1B, 3B – PHI)

Alec Boehm had a great bat last week. He finished the week playing safely with a .421 average over his last five games. He had two doubles and two home runs while walking and striking out 13.6% of the time. Bohm is now hitting .284 with three home runs on the season. He continues to show strong plate skills with a 14.9% walk rate and 18.4% strikeout rate. Boehm is a fixture in the middle of the Phillies’ lineup. A few more weeks like last week could lead to a tremendous fantasy season.
