Former HGTV Star Charles ‘Todd’ Hill Sentenced to 4 Years in Jail

Former HGTV star Charles “Todd” Hill was sentenced to four years in prison last year after pleading guilty to multiple fraud schemes.

Hill – who starred in the HGTV series flip it to win it – was booked into jail on April 16, according to a press release issued by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

Hill was convicted of fraud related to the show – which involved him buying dilapidated houses, renovating them, and selling them for a profit. Hill was accused and convicted of spending the money allocated for the construction on his own personal use.

He was also convicted of committing a crime Ponzi schemeAmong other scandals, some of which occurred before his time on the show.

In addition to his four-year sentence, Hill was also ordered to repay $9.4 million to 11 victims of his real-estate and financial fraud schemes.

Hill was first convicted in November 2019 after an investigation by the District Attorney’s Office uncovered multiple instances of fraud committed by Hill.

Hill pleaded guilty to grand theft with “serious white-collar enhancements” on September 27, 2023.

The DA’s office detailed the crimes of which he was convicted, explaining that, in the case of the Ponzi scheme, he used investors’ money to “live lavishly” and then, “hide the thefts.” For, he created a false balance sheet and obtained a loan using fraudulent information.”
