Govt releases GTE Exemption list for MediTech companies – ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: After two days of intense review, Department of Pharmaceuticals (DOP) issued Global Tender Inquiry (GTE) included in the exemption list.

A committee headed by the Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals and comprising representatives from DoP, CDSCO, DGHS and AIIMS reviewed the claims of all groups. The nodal department had invited both global and domestic manufacturers to provide supporting documents and justifications for review and finalisation. GTE Exemption List,

Speaking on the development, Pawan ChoudharyMr President, Medical Technology Association of India (MTAI) said, “This is a pioneering effort.” Government towards fairness policy makingcovering the critical last mile that has been exposed so far. This exercise has leveled the playing field and the ultimate beneficiaries will be the patient, who will continue to have access to quality products as long as reliable import alternatives are available, and the nation because such a system of checks and balances will not allow substandard product launches to tarnish our reputation as a reliable manufacturing destination. This reputation will aid our growing exports and foreign investors will be encouraged to see that government officials are working so hard to make policymaking fair, Chowdhary said.
