Health, Medical Education and Research Minister Kamal Gupta said the government is committed to healthcare reform and patient welfare. With this new initiative, identified patients will be able to undergo critical kidney and liver transplants at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak without any worries. These important decisions are aimed at providing life-saving medical treatment to those who are in dire need of it, to ensure that no one is deprived of essential healthcare due to financial constraints.

He said that by reducing the financial burden associated with complex medical procedures, the Government is paving the way for a future where healthcare will be a fundamental right, accessible to all regardless of economic status.

The Minister said that earlier, there was no provision to cover expenses related to kidney or liver transplantation under MMMY. Many patients faced insurmountable obstacles in getting the treatments they desperately needed. The introduction of this facility for the first time in a government healthcare institution is a significant step towards bridging this gap and providing comprehensive care to the most vulnerable sections of society.
