“Heart-rending”: President Murmu expresses condolences on deaths of newborns at hospital in Delhi – ET HealthWorld

New DelhiPresident Draupadi Murmu spoke on Sunday. Mourning after seven o’clock Newborns lost his life in a fire Newborn Baby Care Hospital in Delhi Vivek Vihar,

“The news of the death of several children in a fire at a hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi is heart-wrenching. May God give strength to the bereaved parents and relatives to bear this shock. I pray for the speedy recovery of other children injured in the incident,” the President said in a post on Twitter.

Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal He also expressed his condolences on the incident.

Kejriwal said in a post on Twitter, “This incident of fire in the children’s hospital is heartbreaking. We all stand with those who have lost their innocent children in this accident. Government and administration officials are busy providing treatment to the injured at the spot. The causes of the incident are being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared.”

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also took cognizance of the incident and assured strict action.

Bhardwaj said, “A very unfortunate incident has been reported. I have asked the Secretary (Health) to brief me about the current situation. The culprits will not be spared. Strict punishment will be ensured for those found negligent or involved in any wrongdoing.”

According to officials, 12 children were rescued from the spot, one of whom had died before the fire was reported.

“Six newborn babies died in the fire and five others were admitted to hospital,” Delhi Police said.

The owner of the care centre, Naveen Kichi, is still absconding.

According to Delhi Police, an FIR is being registered against him under sections 336 and 304 A.

Atul Garg, Director, Delhi Fire Brigade, said, “It was a very difficult operation. We formed two teams. One team started the work of extinguishing the fire as the cylinders were exploding, we can say there was a series of explosions in the cylinders. So we had to save ourselves as well. We also started the rescue operation for the infants. Unfortunately, we could not save all the children. We rushed all the twelve infants to the hospital. But after reaching there, they declared that 6 are dead. It is a regrettable incident.”

The rescued newborns were shifted to East Delhi Advanced NICU Hospital.

All of them have been put on oxygen support and are undergoing treatment. (ANI)
