So, you may be wondering: how much does ChatGPT cost? This question is trickier than you might think. OpenAI offers a variety of plans for ChatGPT, both paid and free, for clients ranging from individuals to nonprofits, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, and enterprises.

ChatGPT Free
Once Upon a Time, the free version of ChatGPT It was quite limited in what it could do. But that has now changed as OpenAI has introduced new capabilities and built-in generative AI models.
Free users of ChatGPT get access to OpenAI Prominent GPT-4o modelsaugmented responses with content from the web, access to GPT Store and the ability to upload files and photos and ask questions about those uploads. Users can also store chat preferences as “memories” and take advantage of Advanced Data Analysis, a ChatGPT feature that can “reason” (i.e., analyze data) from files such as spreadsheets and PDFs.

ChatGPT Plus
For individual users who want a more capable ChatGPT, it is available ChatGPT PlusWhich costs $20 per month.
ChatGPT Plus offers 5x more power than ChatGPT Free, plus early and priority access to new tools like OpenAI’s macOS client for ChatGPT.
In addition, ChatGPT Plus subscribers get an advanced data analysis feature powered by GPT-4o, which can create interactive charts and tables from datasets. Users can upload files for analysis directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive or from their device.
The ChatGPT Team
Let’s say you own a small business or manage an organization and want more than one ChatGPT license, as well as collaborative features. The ChatGPT team might be a good fit: It costs $30 per user per month or $25 per user per month for up to 149 users.
ChatGPT Team provides a dedicated workspace and admin tools for team management. All users in the ChatGPT Team plan gain access to OpenAI’s latest models and the above tools that let ChatGPT analyze, edit, and extract information from files. ChatGPT Enterprise adds “enterprise-grade” privacy and data analytics capabilities on top of vanilla ChatGPT, as well as improved performance and customization options. There is a dedicated workspace and admin console with tools for managing how employees within an organization use ChatGPT, including single sign-on, domain verification, and a dashboard showing usage and engagement statistics.
Shareable conversation templates provided as part of ChatGPT Enterprise allow users to create internal workflows and bots leveraging ChatGPT, while credit to OpenAI’s API platform allows companies to build completely custom ChatGPT-powered solutions, if they choose.
ChatGPT Enterprise customers also get priority access to models and lines of OpenAI expertise, including a dedicated account team, training, and consolidated invoicing. And they are eligible for a Business Associate Agreement with OpenAI, which is required by US law for companies that want to use tools like ChatGPT with private health information like medical records.
ChatGPT Edu
ChatGPT Edu, A new offering from OpenAI provides a version of ChatGPT built for universities and the students who attend them, as well as faculty, staff researchers, and campus operations teams. Pricing has not yet been made public or reported secondhand, but we’ll update this section if it does.
ChatGPT Edu is very similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, except that it supports SCIM, an open protocol used to simplify cloud identity and access management. Like ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu customers get data analysis tools, admin controls, single sign-on, enhanced security, and the ability to create and share custom chatbots.
ChatGPT Edu comes with the latest OpenAI models and, importantly, has increased message limits too.
OpenAI for Nonprofits
OpenAI for Nonprofits This is OpenAI’s first foray into non-profit tech solutions. This is not a stand-alone ChatGPT plan, but rather a series of discounts for eligible organizations.
Nonprofits can access ChatGPT Team at a discounted rate of $20 monthly per user. Larger nonprofits can get 50% off ChatGPT Enterprise, which equates to about $30 per user.
However, the eligibility requirements are quite strict. While nonprofits located anywhere in the world can apply for exemptions, OpenAI is not currently accepting applications from academic, medical, religious, or government institutions.
