When you think of Souls games, using your hands in combat isn’t really the way you’d think you’d beat a boss.
However, in Shadow of the Aardtree, martial arts are introduced, essentially a way to go weaponless and use your angry fists against Mesmer and his companions.
One way to take advantage of this is to obtain the Dryleaf Arts, which is one of the ‘weapons’ needed to use the martial arts.
However, like most desirable weapons, the Dryleaf Arts is a bit hidden, so we’ll explain how to get it below.
Where to find Dryleaf Arts in the Shadow of the Erdtree
To learn some martial arts for yourself, you’ll need to obtain the Dryleaf Arts from none other than the Dryleaf Den itself.
Now, you won’t see his name revealed unless you make a special gesture, so if you’re confused about who he is, don’t worry.
The gesture is called ‘May the Best Win’ and to get it you need to travel to the Highroad Cross Site of Grace.
You will get this after going through the entire area of Castle Ensis and defeating the boss lurking at the end.
This will be the first grace after you go through the palace to the other side, so you can’t miss it.
There will be the Monk’s Message item here, as well as what you need, a ‘Wishing you the best victory’ sign.
Equip it and head east until you find the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace. You’ll see an NPC here who won’t talk to you.
Use the above gesture in front of the NPC and you will enter into battle with Dryleaf Dane.
Defeat him and you’ll be given the Dryleaf Arts as a reward on the ground when you teleport back to the main map.
