Renner said he was “screaming for breath” as things began to spin around him.

“The first five minutes were about how I was going to breathe,” he said. “Then after maybe 10 minutes, my neighbors came over, they called 911, and I asked my nephew to hold my arm in this position … because apparently my ribs were poking me and puncturing my lungs. Mind you, my leg was twisted like a pretzel — I didn’t feel that shit!”

avengers star He was eventually rushed to the hospital and spent a significant amount of time in the ICU, an experience he doesn’t remember well.

“What a disaster, man,” Renner said. “Taking a shower, going to the bathroom – everything was a disaster. They give you drugs so you don’t go to the bathroom, so you get constipated. And you pee in a jar. It was horrible. Then you find out things aren’t going well – you’re peeing in a plastic jug.”

Renner revealed it took him 17 minutes to “get out of bed” and that it would take him “half a day” to shower.

“I couldn’t get things wet,” he explained. “Your hair gets so sticky and dirty and smells, but I had all these staples I couldn’t get wet, and I didn’t want to risk infection. So I took sponge baths.”

Slowly but surely, Rainer began to recover With the help of doctors and trainers, during that difficult journey, she began to find strength in small victories.

“People ask how. How do you do it?” he said. “You just work hard, man. Love yourself. Believe in yourself. How do you find confidence? You take one step, then you take another step, and then guess what, hot sauce? You’re moving! You know what I mean?”

He added, “You breathe out, then inhale, then exhale. Now you’re breathing in!”
