Kaitlyn Bristowe Reflecting on your season The Bachelorette nine years after the premiere in 2015 — and her relationship with ex-fiancé Shawn Booth,
“I still like to think about my season and the relationship that came out of it — it was somewhat of a success,” Bristow, 39, said. “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast on Tuesday, July 2. “Even though we weren’t married, we were together for almost four years.”
Bristowe met Booth, 37, during her first night together. virgin She instantly fell in love with the personal trainer on the season. It was no surprise when Booth got down on one knee and proposed during the ABC show’s finale, which aired in July 2015. The former couple eventually announced their separation in November 2018.
Though they didn’t end up getting married, Bristow explained why she thinks their relationship lasted so long.
“I really think it’s because I went into this role of being like people would hate me or people would love me, but that’s just who I am,” Bristowe explained. “If I wanted to lay some kind of foundation for a relationship to grow on, I had to be very honest with myself.”
This is the advice Bristowe gives new Bachelor and Bachelorette stars before their lead roles begin.
“I always encourage people — even though they feel messy — America is not going to like what they say or do,” she continued. “I think you have to be completely true to yourself in order to have a somewhat successful relationship with that person, with yourself, with your followers, which Bachelor Nation is very loyal to, and they will understand that.”

Bristowe also recalled that she and Booth had an “instant” connection when they first met.
“I didn’t think I would have that feeling the first night. I’ve never met someone and had that electric feeling the first moment I touched their hands. I’ve never really experienced anything like that,” she said. “I got to know someone really well and see who they are. That was really extraordinary for me.”
Following Bristowe and Booth’s 2018 split, she moved on with fellow Bachelor Nation member Jason Tartick in January 2019. Bristow and Tartick announced their engagement in May 2021. As of August 2023, the former couple announced that they had broken up,
