Kyle MacLachlan he is reminiscing about his past sex and the City He does it with great affection — even some of the scenes that upset him.
“There are a few, a handful [of scenes] Where I think back and I go, I mean, you just have to close your eyes and jump in and you’re just like, ‘OK, here we go and trust that everything is going to be OK,’ which it was,” MacLachlan, 65, exclusively told our weekly late last month while promoting their partnership with Arby’s and the return of their potato cakes. “They were so much fun.”
MacLachlan starred in the comedy-drama series from 2000 to 2002, playing Trey MacDougal, the first husband of Charlotte York (kristin davis.) In rethinking her role, MacLachlan found there were parallels between Sex and the City and her new campaign with Arby’s.
“It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s goofy. It’s going to make a lot of people happy because they’re so excited about the idea of the potato cakes coming back because they love them and they’re fantastic,” he said. “We don’t know when they’re going to come back. That’s the whole point, but the whole idea of it is let’s have some fun and enjoy this journey together.”
However, Trey and Charlotte’s love story was not over yet SATCMacLachlan would not be opposed to reprising the character in a Max revival series, and just like that,
“Let me fulfill my contract here. Anything is possible,” he teased. “Anything is possible. Who knows?”
If MacLachlan returned and just like thatHe could see Trey becoming the owner of an Arby’s franchise.
“I am open to doing a cameo,” he said. We“I think that could be a really interesting direction, a new direction for Trey. He owns an Arby’s and he enjoys his potato cakes. That would be fun.”
He could also watch a scene in which he and Trey’s mother, played by the late actor, reunite. Francis Sternhagenfeeding her in the bathtub, which would be an homage to the iconic scene from the original series.
“Sadly, Francis is no longer with us,” he said of Sternhagen, who died in November 2023. “But I’m sure we’ll figure it out [how] to do that work.”
MacLachlan has been involved in several other projects SATCIncluding Pixar’s inside out 2, in which he voices Riley’s father. It’s a role he takes just as seriously as Arby’s Leader of the Order of the Potato Cakes, which returns to restaurants on Monday, July 1.
“I’m a fan of hash browns, I would say,” MacLachlan said. “And I oftentimes at home, if we’ve had some kind of potato the night before, I’ll chop them up the next morning and make a whole little thing with sometimes a little onion and some bell peppers, and I go back and make these potatoes again, so I’m not a stranger to potatoes and want to make something with them.”
