Morgan Freeman Once again, he’s expressed his displeasure with Black History Month … and called the tribute a deeply flawed concept.
The Oscar winner — who has spoken out against Black History Month multiple times over the years — launched a scathing attack against the annual celebration in a new interview with Variety … saying he absolutely hates it, while adding that he doesn’t agree with it at all.
MF says… “You’re going to give me the shortest month of the year? And you’re going to celebrate ‘my’ history?! The whole idea makes my teeth itch. It’s not right.”
He defended “American history,” saying it’s his own history – the actor stressed the importance of learning from the past … and not focusing on what divides us as countrymen.
he adds … [American history is] There’s one thing in this world that interests me, besides making money, having a good time, and getting enough sleep.”
The subject is certainly on Morgan’s mind, as she’s executive producing a new period drama about women who served as Union spies during the Civil War. The project, which is also produced by kevin costneris set on the star Mary-Louise Parker, Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head And Ben Vereen,
Morgan expressed Similar feelings Last year … where he called Black History Month “disgraceful” during an interview with The Sunday Times.
He added … “Also, ‘African American’ is an insult. I do not support that title. There have been different titles for black people, from the N-word to now, and I don’t know how these things became so popular, but everybody uses ‘African American.'”

Morgan first caused a stir with his stance in a 2005 interview with “60 Minutes,” where he described dedicating a month to black history as a “ridiculous” idea — and when he famously said the way to get rid of racism was to “stop talking about it.”
Others have taken a similar stance… i.e., Black history is American history, that’s it.
