The 28-year-old singer revealed on social media about 30 minutes before the Los Angeles awards ceremony kicked off on Sunday, June 30, that she had to have her arm amputated due to a “very bad accident.”
“I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone could ever be, believe me,” Normani wrote. Instagram In her Stories, she also shared a photo of herself leaning on crutches, with one of her knees bandaged. “I had a really bad accident while rehearsing for BET and was injured. I’m usually able to handle myself in any situation, but unfortunately due to my doctor’s orders, I am unable to perform.”

The “1:59” singer, whose scheduled performance was promoted by the BET Awards in the lead-up to the ceremony, released her debut solo album, DopamineOn June 14th.
Following Fifth Harmony’s 2017 hiatus, Normani released several singles, including “Motivation”, “Wild Side” cardi b and “Waves” — though her debut album struggled to materialize.
