OpenAI buys a remote collaboration platform | TechCrunch

OpenAI is moving towards mergers and acquisitions.

A few days later get Database tech firm Rockset acquired by OpenAI Multi (First Foresight), a startup developing an enterprise-focused, video-first collaboration platform. A source familiar with the matter says the deal is technically an acquisition and that most of Multy’s team – about five people – will join OpenAI after the deal closes.

Alexander Embiricos, CEO of Multi and one of its co-founders, says that Multi will shut down after July 24, 2024.

“We are thrilled to announce that Multi is joining OpenAI,” he wrote in a post. Post On Multi’s blog. “Thank you to everyone who has used Multi. It was an honor to work with you and we learned a lot from you.”

With Mult, Embiricos (an ex-Dropbox product manager) and Mult’s other co-founder, Charlie Ho (an ex-Google software engineer), aimed to create a Zoom-based platform designed for remote teams to work together via video chat. Mult offered features such as the ability to collaborate on screen share with up to 10 people at the same time, customizable shortcuts, and automatic deep links to code, designs, and documents.

According to Crunchbase dataMulti raised $13 million in cash from VCs including Greylock and First Round Capital prior to today’s exit.

Like the Rockset purchase, the Multi deal also appears to be in line with OpenAI’s broader recent strategy of investing heavily in enterprise solutions. OpenAI recently revealed Its viral AI-powered chatbot platform, ChatGPT, had nearly 600,000 users at the corporate level, including 93% of all Fortune 500 firms.

In May, OpenAI signs an agreement with PwC resell OpenAI’s tools to other businesses. A month ago, the company launched a Business-oriented custom AI model tuning and consulting program,

This enterprise appeal is proving lucrative, with OpenAI’s revenue expected to surpass $3.4 billion this year. Per Information.

As with OpenAI’s other corporate-targeted product efforts, could we one day see an improved ChatGPT with video conferencing and remote collaboration capabilities? Perhaps. I wouldn’t expect this to be beyond OpenAI – especially as the lag time between organizations’ leading models widens tall,
