The company described the event as “an opportunity to showcase some ChatGPT and GPT-4 updates.” Meanwhile, CEO Sam Altman, Promoted the program with the message, “No GPT-5, no search engine, but we’re working hard on some new things we think people will love! “It feels like magic to me.”
As it turned out, the announcement was of a new model called chatgpt4o – The “O” stands for “Omni” – which provides greater responsiveness to sound signals, as well as better vision capabilities.
“GPT-4O spans voice, text and vision,” OpenAI CTO Muri Muratti said during a keynote presentation at OpenAI’s offices in San Francisco. “And that’s incredibly important, as we’re looking at the future of interactions between us and machines.”
