Cipla for launch and Distribution about your new antibiotic cefepim-enmetazobactam In IndiaOrchid Pharma said in a statement that the company’s new drug – cefepime-enmetazobactam – has been approved for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs), hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).

Partnerships The collaboration combines Orchid’s innovative drug development capabilities with Cipla’s extensive distribution network and market presence. The company said the collaboration is aimed at ensuring that this life-saving drug reaches healthcare providers across India quickly and efficiently.

Manish Dhanuka, managing director, Orchid Pharma, said growing resistance to current drugs commonly used to treat these symptoms, such as piperacillin-tazobactam for cUTIs, forced doctors to start using carbapenems — a reserve drug used when most other drugs don’t work.

“Now, Orchid’s cefepime-enmetazobactam will allow doctors to skip carbapenems, thereby limiting their use and extending their effective life,” he said.
