‘I don’t really understand Bollywood’

‘If you can’t afford it then you shouldn’t be in this profession’

Parineeti said, “I was like, ‘I don’t have 4 lakh per month will have to be paid. I don’t earn that money. This is my third film. And I remember going to one of my co-actors, who of course grew up in this world, in Bombay. He says, ‘Why aren’t you hiring these people? This is important for your work. I said, ‘Listen, but I really can’t afford it.’ I get paid 5 lakhs for my first film (Women vs Ricky Bahl, This won’t even cover a month of everything. He said, ‘If you cannot afford it then you should not enter this profession.’ And I felt like that was so wrong on so many levels.”

She also recalled the times when people would suggest what she should wear, but she couldn’t afford it and felt humiliated for it. Parineeti also spoke about how flying business class and first class did not become possible until much later in her life. It was only after completing her fifth film and checking her bank account that Parineeti realized that she could finally buy her desired things like bags and shoes.
