Pete Buttigieg He knows Americans are thinking about traveling during the holiday season, and for those concerned about Boeing’s issues, he says the government is setting too high a bar for the company.
The transportation secretary appeared on “TMZ Live” on Thursday to talk about the many technical problems that have plagued the aircraft manufacturing giant in recent months, and he said Boeing is under intense government scrutiny as a result.
Secretary Buttigieg said the Federal Aviation Administration is forcing Boeing to prove it can build planes safely before it will be allowed to produce the Boeing 737 MAX… a scathing condemnation of the company’s recent products.
However, he said the FAA sets very high standards for all manufacturers … testing is done to make sure the chance of something going wrong is no more than one in a billion.
