Ryan Garcia I am not retiring… boxing superstar told TMZ Sports He will not give his critics the satisfaction. So, when his one-year suspension is over, King Rai will be back in the square circle!
But, until then… he’s ready to fight somewhere other than the ring.
We caught up with Garcia, 25, in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, where we asked Ryan about the punishment handed down by the New York State Athletic Commission, whether he’s truly retired, and whether he’s serious about fighting in MMA.
The suspension and the forfeiture of more than a million dollars in cash was cited by Garcia, who also had his win taken away and it was changed to a “no contest.”
“it happens [hurt], [Devin’s] “The only reason I’m not abusing is because my daughter is here,” Ryan said of the Heaney father and son duo.
Last week, Garcia, 25-1 (w/ 1 NC), he announced he was retiring We asked him if he wanted to retire for good – that is, never box professionally again.
“I’m retiring for a year. So they don’t know what’s going on. [satisfaction] To suspend me because that’s bullshit. I’ve never taken steroids in my life. They can all suck wieners.”
As part of his retirement announcement, Ryan said he was going to go to the UFC. We asked if he was serious about MMA.
“I like ‘Suga’ Sean [O’Malley] because he defended me [after cheating allegations]. But if he really wants to compete in the UFC, I’ll compete. Or bare knuckle s***, I’m ready to fight anybody at this point.”
Of course, Ryan isn’t signed to the UFC… but Dana White‘A shrewd businessman (he successfully made Floyd Mayweather, conor mcgregor in a different sport), and Garcia vs. O’Malley, their bantamweight champion, the fight would be huge.
