Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken today spoke with Israeli Defense Secretary Yoav Gallant about the proposal to achieve a full and complete ceasefire in Gaza under the hostage agreement, ensure the release of all hostages, and increase humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. The Secretary of State commended Israel’s readiness to fulfill the agreement and affirmed that the responsibility to accept it rests with Hamas. He emphasized that the proposal would advance Israel’s long-term security interests, including by enabling the possibility of further integration in the region. He reaffirmed the United States’ steadfast commitment to Israel’s security.
