Secretary Blinken’s Call with Jordanian Foreign Minister Safadi – United States Department of State

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi. They discussed ongoing efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire that would ensure the release of hostages and provide a concrete roadmap to ending the war in Gaza, as well as allow for a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance to Gaza. They also discussed the post-conflict period and diplomatic efforts to achieve a sustainable end to the crisis in Gaza that provides lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. Secretary Blinken reiterated his thanks for Jordan’s leadership in delivering critical humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza through the Jordanian land corridor and joint U.S.-Jordan airdrops. Secretary Blinken emphasized the United States’ continued commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel.
