Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken today spoke with Mexico’s Foreign Minister-Designate Juan Ramón de la Fuente and congratulated him on his appointment. Secretary of State Blinken reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-Mexico relationship and our commitment to working closely with President-Elect Sheinbaum’s Administration as equal partners to advance the values and interests of both countries. The Secretary of State and Foreign Minister-Designate de la Fuente discussed our enduring partnership across the full spectrum of shared interests, including irregular migration, the threat of fentanyl, economic prosperity, climate change, and renewable energy.
