Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and discussed shared security interests in the Horn of Africa, including the need to reduce regional tensions, focus on counterterrorism objectives, and finalize plans for a successor mission to the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). They also discussed the important role of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia.
