Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with Arab Foreign Ministers – United States Department of State

Foreign Minister Antony J. Blinken met today in Riyadh with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt and Jordan, as well as Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein Al Sheikh. They discussed the importance of a continued increase in humanitarian assistance to address the grave situation in Gaza. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States’ support for efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region, including the path to Palestinian statehood with security assurances for Israel. Secretary Blinken stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of remaining hostages held by Hamas. The Secretary also underlined the importance of regional coordination to prevent conflict from spreading.
