Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Israel’s National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi and Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer. The Secretary of State reiterated the United States’ firm commitment to Israel’s security. They discussed ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages. The Secretary of State emphasized the need to take additional steps to increase humanitarian assistance in Gaza and plan for post-conflict governance, security, and reconstruction. They also underscored the importance of avoiding further escalation in Lebanon and reaching a diplomatic solution that allows Israeli and Lebanese families to return to their homes.
