Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan today on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza in Jordan. The Secretary of State and Foreign Minister discussed the need to reach a ceasefire that would lead to the release of all hostages, increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, and the return of civilians to their neighborhoods. The Secretary of State emphasized that the current proposal would benefit both Israel and Palestine and reiterated that Hamas should accept it without delay. The Secretary of State and Foreign Minister continued to discuss Gaza’s reconstruction, governance, and security in the post-conflict period.
