Sex on the Beach is a refreshing tropical cocktail made with vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry and orange juices. This classic cocktail has been around for decades and is the perfect thing to drink beachside or cool off on a hot day.

Since this drink came out in the 1980s, it has become a cocktail icon with its easy-to-make fruity profile. Although the origin of the drink is not known for certain, it is believed that it came from a Florida bartender trying to find a drink to promote peach schnapps, and since spring break and Florida beaches are closely linked. Hence the name Provocative was born.

What is the best vodka for sex on the beach?

While the choice of vodka is up to you and your pocketbook, it is advisable to skip the lowest grade vodkas and opt for some smooth vodkas like Tito’s, Absolut, Three Olives, or Sky.

Material

• Vodka: Vodka is a good choice for the base of this drink because its flavor is more neutral and allows the other fruit flavors to shine.
• Peach Schnapps: Although it doesn’t add a ton of alcohol factor to the drink, that touch of peach adds a special sweetness to the drink.

• Orange juice: Although you can use store-bought juice, try adding freshly squeezed orange juice for extra fresh flavor.

Tips to make

• If you find that your cranberry juice is not settling to the bottom of your drink and you really want a layered look, add a little grenadine to your cranberry juice and then pour. Since the grenadine is heavy, it will help pull it down to the bottom as well as add a delicious cherry flavor.
• Add a little peach juice for more peach flavor without adding more alcohol.
• To add another tropical layer to the drink, feel free to try flavored vodkas like pineapple or coconut.
