I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Seychelles on the 48th anniversary of their independence.
Seychelles has been a strong defender of a peaceful, prosperous and democratic Africa. We are proud to work closely with you to curb the pirates and illicit drug traffickers who threaten the peace and well-being of the Indian Ocean region. We applaud the Seychelles government’s exemplary work to preserve the country’s natural ecosystem and unique marine environment while promoting a sustainable blue economy. We greatly value the partnership between Seychelles and the United States, a relationship that is further deepened by the reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Victoria in 2023, and we wish you a joyous celebration of your National Day.
