Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Fay Rodríguez Co-leads the US Delegation to the International Labor Organization’s Annual Conference and Social Justice Summit in Geneva, Switzerland – United States Department of State

On June 10-14, Special Representative for International Labor Affairs (SRILA) Kelly Fe Rodriguez traveled to Geneva, Switzerland with the Department of Labor’s Deputy Under Secretary for International Labor Affairs Thea Lee to represent the United States at the 112th International Labor Conference, the annual conference of the International Labor Organization. During the conference’s opening forum for the Global Alliance for Social Justice, Deputy Under Secretary Lee and SRILA Fe Rodriguez promoted labor rights and President Biden’s recent U.S. actions in a session highlighting concrete collaborative actions for social justice. The conference discussed a wide range of issues, including protecting workers from the effects of climate change and biological hazards, the care economy, and fundamental principles and rights at work. Srila Fe Rodriguez delivered a speech on behalf of the United States, supporting the ILO’s efforts to fund emergency relief for Palestinian workers affected by the crisis. The US government delegation also joined over 250 partners in the inaugural forum of the Global Alliance for Social Justice with American workers and employers, emphasizing the importance of freedom of association and collective bargaining to achieve social justice.
