Tragedy struck Mexico on Wednesday when strong winds caused the stage at a presidential campaign rally to collapse, killing nine people.
This terrifying moment happened on camera when the candidate Jorge Álvarez Maynez campaigned in a town outside Monterrey — and when he and several supporters encouraged the crowd to chant, a sudden gust of wind shattered a large video screen behind the stage.
As the scaffolding and screens collapsed on the stage, Álvarez Menez and his team were seen running in different directions to take cover.
As you can see… the crowd started to run away in panic, but there were still some people with their mobile phones out, capturing the entire incident in disbelief.
As the winds continued to blow fiercely, people were desperately trying to find their way to safety beneath the collapsed tent structure.
Governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia All deaths confirmed x post … He said one of the victims was a minor. He said some of the 54 injured were in stable condition at the time, while others were undergoing surgery. The number of injured has since risen to 121.
Later, the area was cordoned off and heavily armed security personnel were closely monitoring the situation.
Álvarez Máñez announced he was suspending all campaign activities as a sign of solidarity in the wake of the collapse.
