Super Mario ice cream arrives as Nintendo colab with Baskin Robbins

Super Mario and Baskin-Robbins have teamed up to bring the ice cream of gaming dreams to Japanese stores.

Since their debut in the mid-1980s, Mario and Luigi have been a beloved part of the gaming world, bringing charm to hundreds of collaborations. Now the days and nights of the Japanese summer will be adorned with pipe-plunging Italian plumbers for a limited time.

Super Mario ice cream arrives in Japan

The frozen treat brand will be running a Nintendo-themed collaboration across Japan this summer until July 31. Baskin Robbins posted the collaboration on its social media channels:

Flavors include Super Mushroom Cola Float, Superstar Double Grape and even a Peeps-themed container for the frozen stuff. Other items include Question Block boxes, a 3D Luigi Mansion ice cream cake and a Super Mario Variety Box in a four, six, eight or twelve-piece version.

Baskin-Robbins also promoted the limited-time collaboration on their YouTube channel, and revealed more Mario-themed deserts:

Super Mario is no stranger to collaborations

Bedsheets, fancy dress costumes, LEGO and more have had their adventures etched onto retail items. To boost sales, celebrate their legendary status as gaming icon royalty and earn a coin or two in the process.

mario x lego The collaboration has been fruitful for the brick builder. Over the past few years, a range of building toys have been released, and as we mentioned, even more toys are set to become available in their stores later this summer. These include:

• Soda Jungle Maker set, including a pink Shy Guy, a Wriggler, and a Pirhana plant
• Goombas Playground, which includes three Goombas
• Bowser Express Train, which is a train set featuring Hammer Bros and several other characters
• King Boo’s Haunted Mansion, featuring King Boo and his mansion
• Battle with Roy in Peach’s Castle, wielding a slingshot and a Chain Chomp

Gaming legend Sonic is also included in the LEGO collaboration, and the speedy electric hedgehog will have his own playset for fans.

Both gaming icons have begun to take over the gaming cinematic world. The Super Mario Bros. movie was a box office hit, and Sonic’s next film is coming to theaters in December.

Sonic fans can get it too Sonic X Shadow Collector’s EditionWhich will also be exclusive to Japanese stores. The bundle of gaming items includes a 12 cm Shadow figure, a 5 cm keychain with Sonic and Shadow shoes, stickers and an art book of the game.
