Tekken director remains intrigued by Waffle House as a fight stage

Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada is no stranger to infusing quirky, ironic humor into an over-the-top fighting game. The director gave us Street Fighter X Tekken and Pokkén Tournament, after all. Yet he can’t understand why American fans want a Waffle House stage tekken 8 — but the fact that he continues to ask these questions on social media suggests he’s at least considering the request.

to recap, early this spring Tekken fans took to social media to plead with Harada and Bandai Namco to introduce a Waffle House stage into the game, Launched on 26 January On PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

The request references a sort of internet meme/video in which a few customers – as the British say, “tired and emotional” – make a fuss inside the 24-hour breakfast joint that’s an integral part of American interstate culture, and they take issue with its overworked, harassed, underpaid staff. Like so:

“I needed to learn more about American society,” Harada said. Waffle House was founded in 1955, nearly 120 years after Alexis de Tocqueville visited and documented the nascent American republic.

Answering Harada’s question, I eat at Waffle House frequently and I’ve never seen anyone hand out a bite and then end up dismembered, choked and covered in hashbrowns. These fights are largely one-time events that are rehashed and rehashed on social media. WorldStarHipHop.comThe majority of Waffle House customers are peace-loving, hungry and sleep-deprived people: truck drivers, Postal Service letter carriers and college students.

Unless they’re on Saturday Night Live:

Why the Waffle House is a perfect setting for a fighting game

But if someone decides it’s time to put up a fight, Waffle House employees don’t hold back. This is one restaurant that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has literally ordered to be evacuated. Depends as a marker How bad is the disaster when there is a hurricane or some other extreme weather event. If the Waffle House isn’t open, son, it’s officially bad. In other words, they fight to save their restaurant.

So Tekken 8 should include Waffle House or at least something similar that appears in the game. I imagine there will be a big discussion with licensing, lawyers and the chain’s corporate leadership, brand managers and PR staff to get that restaurant into the game.

But there’s nothing stopping Harada and Bandai Namco from setting up at least one normal-looking eatery, with chefs behind the counter rolling up their sleeves to whip up dishes for King, Heihachi, Kazumi and the others. Harada, make it happen!
