We welcome the rescue of four hostages who have finally been reunited with their families in Israel after eight months in captivity. The United States will not rest until all hostages are returned home.
The proposal that President Biden put forward eight days ago will bring relief to the people of Gaza and the remaining hostages and their families through an immediate ceasefire that leads to the release of all hostages, increased humanitarian assistance, the reconstruction of Gaza, and a lasting end to the war. The only obstacle to achieving this ceasefire is Hamas. Now is the time for them to accept this deal.
