Grammy Award winning, South African born singer, Tyla She finds herself at the crossroads of an emerging race conflict – all of which came to a head in “The Breakfast Club,” but she chooses to resort to the 5th stream.
This is Tyla and this video is from 3 years ago, if not 4 years and I’m sure many of you didn’t even know who Tyla was back then. The poor girl mentioned here was also mixed with blacks. Hands off Tyla, please let her be #colorful #Black #tyla #trending pic.twitter.com/M4hyvKTe6M

All the discussion about her race and ethnicity started after fans spotted a TikTok Tyla made years ago — before her song “Water” became an internationally famous, double platinum smash — where she celebrated her mixed heritage, and dubbed herself a “proud Coloured South African woman.”
Instagram is waiting for your permission to load media.
Charlemagne the God Tyla was given the floor to clarify the comment — but she pressed her point and her publicist requested the question be struck from the record.
Tyla’s silence didn’t do her any good… Black American fans felt she lacked understanding as to why the word “colored” is no longer part of this country’s culture.
As the controversy escalated, Tyla released a statement … in which she clarified that she never denied being black, she simply chose to embrace her diversity.
According to the 22-year-old, she has Irish, Indian and other ethnic blood flowing through her veins – in addition she is Zulu. She says that in her country she is called “coloured”, but she knows that in this country she is considered black, and she has no problem with that
Tyla is scheduled to attend this year’s Rolling Loud Thailand and the BET Awards…for the record, not the BET Awards.
