Spring break rowdy reached new heights outside Savannah, GA … as several violent fights broke out despite an increased police presence.
Thousands of people gathered on Tybee Island last weekend for the annual Orange Crush gathering… and it didn’t take long for chaos to ensue. Videos from the party weekend show countless drunken attendees doing everything from littering to fighting.
Check this out… A group of women are seen yelling at each other, with one combatant ripping off another’s bathing suit. Some people intervene in the fight… instead filming the fight on their phones.
Partygoers also destroyed the picturesque beaches of the island… as a large amount of garbage, especially after being thrown on the sand, went into the sea.
Heading into Spring Break weekend, Tybee Island increased its police presence…with police deployed at all road points. Remember, Savannah State University severed its ties to the Orange Crush in 1991 after violent incidents and drownings tainted the celebration.
Party Weekend returned in 2020… before taking another hiatus due to the pandemic. Now Orange Crush is back – wilder than ever…taking over a 3-mile island with thousands of people.
Chief bob holly The Georgia Department of Natural Resources tried to paint a more peaceful picture of the weekend. They told WSAV3 … “We have a little bit more of a presence, which gives people a little bit of a safer environment. I think when there’s a good law enforcement and public safety presence, people can relax and when they can relax, things go better. “It’s better to go well.”
It seems the most we need to do is look at social media for a clear account of what happened.
