Waiting for SCOTUS – KFF Health News

Host

June means it’s time for the Supreme Court to rule on the biggest and most controversial cases of the term. This year, the court has two important abortion-related cases to decide: one involving the abortion pill mifepristone and the other involving a conflict between the federal Emergency Care Act and Idaho’s nearly total abortion ban.

There is also a case awaiting resolution that could dramatically change the way the federal government makes health care (and all kinds of other) policies, potentially limiting the authority of agencies to interpret the details of laws through regulations. Rules resulting from the Affordable Care Act and other legislation could be affected.

In this special episode of “What the Health?”, Laurie Sobel, KFF’s associate director for women’s health policy, joins host Julie Rovner to review the cases and preview the decisions the judges will render on them.

Matters highlighted in this episode:
